From the Wrecker collection. Or really the Accordian collection curated by the Wrecker. He started collecting these dodgy ship paintings (I did worry about the symbolism - was he preparing to leave?) and I had to hide most of them they were so bad. But these I like.
I love the blue one with its thickly applied impasto paint- you can almost imagine the assembly line heirarchies of palette knife wielders over brushworkers. It is a great bathroom painting. Foggy and mysterious. The yellow/green one tones rather nicely with the lounge and gives the living room a touch of the exotic east.
Thanks to Handmade Life whose velvet painting collection gave me the idea to blog this.

I'm with you, I love the first one and for ALL the same reasons you like it and it's very magical. Like it's a city or something. Although I do enjoy the lines in the second one... it's "sort" of reminiscent of Japanese sketches and the lines are airy and the bottom heavy, I'm not such a fan of how it's centered right in the middle of the painting. But those round rocks... they are great. So, round and grey. They are very cartooned and perfect. I love that you have these, looking at them makes me want to find some of my own ship paintings.
There are others....
i love stories about ship wrecks and tidal waves. I often think about how I would survive if I happened to be in a shipwreck- Can any of your jewellery be used in a survival capacity?
Queen- I love those bubble type rocks on the yellow one too. I think the paintings appeal because they are fishing boats. As a vegetarian (ovo, lacto, fisho) they make me happy.
Windbag- yes there are more. Hidden behind the lounge.shh
Shannon- my jewellery is all essential for survival in a shipwreck situation. anyone wearing my power jewels will be given 1st pick of the food and water.
I've responded to the nautical week call, although not quite as colourfully as you. LOVE the paintings!
ahoy thar me hearty! This is the most inspiring theme! I am sitting here in my boatneck stripey and dreaming of the high seas. There be treasure on this thar island arrrr.
Aha - so I looked at the stash of discarded paintings behind the couch and what did I find? Half the paintings were wrecker selections - including a holographic nativity scene!
thankyou mr w j accordian! i had forgotten about the baby jesus nativity scene and it is just about time to pull it out and dust it off for xmas. as for half of the bad art being mine, i scarcely think that possible.
