RebEKKA 2: Banana Envy

I was a bit offended at the 6ft mega bunches of bananas seen at the Ekka this year. Just what are they feeding these plants? And where is the water coming from? Mine have never been the same since we fixed the plumbing. And then I missed most of our meagre winter harvest of drought bananas. As you can see, the bats and the possums took their cut.

An old banana farmer in Maleny calls those mishaped winter drought bananas that ripen at the end of the year "November Dumps" Because they are so dumpy!

Dumpalicious! Mine could be marketed as cocktail bananas.

Yes, we have no bananas, as the old song goes. Any cheap bananas at this stage would be welcome. The price in the shops not only affects my household budget but apparently the nation as a whole. I just don't think the possums, bats and currawongs care about CPIs. I'm suprised that no-one has made off with those big bunches of bananas at the Ekka. Too late now I suppose!

my bananas are cheap and delicious. they have all the flavour of a normal supermarket nana condensed into a miniature version. well the texture is rather interesting. i wrote a ditty

short and stout
peel me open
and stuff me down ya snout.

Your ditty's metre could do with some work however.
